Satter Ruhlen Law Firm, PLLC
Syracuse, NY
This is the 2023 fellowship description for this mentor organization. This fellowship position has been filled.
Satter Ruhlen Law Firm, PLLC has been committed to protecting and promoting the rights of working people for over 30 years. We provide assistance to unions in contract negotiations, arbitrations, defending DFRs and other claims, ULPs, and representation cases. Additionally, we offer counsel and representation to individuals regarding discrimination and retaliation claims; family, disability, and military leave; employment and severance agreements; wage and hour claims, and a variety of other issues arising in the employment context. Satter Ruhlen Law Firm, PLLC is an equal opportunity employer.
A Peggy Browning Fellow can expect to participate in a variety of matters, including preparation for arbitrations and agency hearings; document review and preparation of exhibits; attending hearings; observing arguments, depositions, negotiations, and client meetings; drafting pleadings and discovery responses; and substantial research and writing that may generate writing samples. We are a small law firm so the law clerk will get to work closely with the attorneys on all types of matters.
Requirements: 2L only. Demonstrated commitment to workers’ rights. Exceptionally strong research and writing skills are critical. Basic coursework in labor law or employment law. Remote work may be available.
The Fellow will be given time to attend relevant PBF and AFL-CIO events as well as local networking and CLE events through the County and State Bar associations, as available.
While we do not guarantee placement, the right fit could open up an opportunity for post-law school employment.
Fellows will receive a stipend of $9,000 for the 10 week program.
