Saltzman & Johnson was established in 1968 by Warren H. Saltzman. Richard C. Johnson joined the firm in 1974 and the firm became Saltzman & Johnson Law Corporation in 1977. The firm continues to specialize in the representation of multi-employer, collectively-bargained employee benefit plans and public retirement and health plans.
Saltzman & Johnson has provided independent legal counsel services to multi-employer, collectively bargained benefit plans for over 40 years. It does not represent either labor or management in labor relations and, therefore, are able to provide independent advice to the Trustees or Directors. Saltzman & Johnson prides itself in representing the interest of participants and beneficiaries of employee benefit plans.
Since 1990 Saltzman & Johnson has brought its expertise to the representation of public retirement systems and of public sector health and welfare trusts. We now represent a significant number of charter city and district retirement plans. We have authored numerous opinions on complex issues involving state and federal law.
Fellowship candidates should have strong analytical, research, and writing as well as interpersonal skills necessary to effectively engage with clients and other service providers. Law clerks will work on a variety of projects, including attending arbitrations or court hearing(s). Fellowship work will also include ERISA regulatory compliance issues; reviewing employee plan documents, notices, policies and forms; policies for apprentice programs; labor and employment law issues; and other issues.
This position allows for substantial remote work and is open to first year or second year law school students.
The position will pay $35 an hour, with an average 30 to 40 hours per week.
