Beeson, Tayer and Bodine, APC – a progressive 20-attorney California law firm with offices in Oakland and Sacramento – is recruiting a Summer 2025 Law Clerk for our Oakland office. We represent public & private sector labor unions, their members, multiemployer benefit plans, and individual employees. Our dynamic practice includes advising and representing unions in all aspects of their fight for working people and justice on the job. This often creative work has us lawyering from the picket line to the courtroom.

Beeson, Tayer & Bodine has represented labor unions and collectively-bargained employee benefit plans in California for over seventy-five years. With offices in Oakland and Sacramento, the firm serves clients throughout the Western United States.

We aim expose our clerks to as many areas of labor and employment law as possible. This can include participating in various stages of the litigation process, conducting research, and preparing for and attending arbitrations, negotiations, or other administrative hearings. We also require all clerks to work on one longer writing piece, such as a brief or opinion letter.

Applicants should be in their second year of law school and preferably have completed or be enrolled in labor and employment law courses. In addition to a strong academic background and superior writing skills, applicants must share our commitment to the labor movement and workers’ rights. We try to expose our clerks to as many areas of labor and employment law as possible. This can include all stages of the litigation process, arbitrations, and administrative proceedings.

Compensation: $35/hour with sick leave after 90 days.
