The Service Employees International Union (SEIU) is a labor union of approximately two million diverse workers who provide public services, healthcare, and property services throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico. SEIU represents about 80,000 workers in Pennsylvania and nearly a quarter of SEIU’s Pennsylvania membership works in the public sector.
SEIU Local 668 primarily represents Pennsylvania public sector workers in human services, the courts, public works, corrections and emergency telecommunications. Thousands of SEIU Local 668’s Pennsylvania members are Commonwealth employees providing essential state services through the Departments of Health, Human Services, Labor and Industry and Corrections.
The Peggy Browning Fellow will be responsible for supporting the Local's grievance process, collective bargaining, and it's organizing efforts. This may include direct participation in contract negotiations, arbitrations and organizing campaigns. During the course of the assignments, the Fellow will have direct contact with Local 668’s officers, staff and members. The Assignments may require travel throughout Pennsylvania.
The successful candidate should possess a serious commitment to work for the labor movement and a desire to protect worker rights.
The position will pay $7,000.00 for the full ten-week fellowship.
